Keshav K Singh, PhD
Keshav K. Singh is Joy and Bill Harbert Endowed Chair Professor of Genetics,
Dermatology and Pathology, and founding Editor-in-Chief of the Mitochondrion Journal.
Dr. Singh earned his undergraduate degree in India, (PhD) in Australia, and postdoctoral
studies at Harvard, USA. After completing his postdoctoral studies, he joined Johns
Hopkins as an Assistant Professor. He then moved to Roswell Park Cancer Institute,
where he rose through the ranks to Professor and then to Distinguish Professor.
As a pioneering leader in healthy aging and longevity, Keshav has authored three books
and published over one hundred impactful research articles. His discovery that
mitochondria, the powerhouse of cells that decline as we age, causes skin aging and
hair loss has been acclaimed worldwide. He discovered that mitochondria function as a reversible regulator of skin aging and hair loss. This insight has transformed the
narrative of aging, as skin aging reflects the aging in other organs. His research has
paved the way for protecting or restoring mitochondrial function to slow aging, and
prevent, or treat aging-associated diseases.
In addition to his academic achievements, Keshav is a successful entrepreneur and the founder of Yuva Biosciences. He was recognized as one of Newsweek's Innovation Heroes, appeared on the "Finding Genius" show, and was awarded the Indian Icon Award in 2023. He is an elected member of the Sigma Xi Society and a fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine in London and has received other awards and recognition throughout his career.
